Reading Rec: House of Corruption

“In 1890s New Orleans, three unusual men cross paths: Reynard LaCroix, his lycanthropy in remission with a silver bullet lodged against his heart; Artémius Savoy, a lapsed secular priest keeping vigil over Reynard’s progress; and Mahonri Grant, a Mormon gunslinger on the run.

Brought together by murder, united in a common cause, they pursue an unholy creature to save a young woman’s life.

Their dangerous road leads to the dark jungles of Borneo, where awaits an abhorrent mansion in the wilderness. There they must confront a host of the undead…and face the demons within themselves.”

Welcome to Sugar and Scream’s reading recommendation corner! We’ve both avid readers so every so often we’ll throw something at you that we think you should give the time of day/night.

We read this years ago and it still sticks with us. House of Corruption harkens back to the gothic horror days that we just need more of. New Orleans, werewolves, mystery, what more does a ghoul need? That cover can get some major love too. ❤

The only shame here is that to date, this is still Erik Tavares’ only novel.

Available for free on Kindle Unlimited or $2.99 for purchase.

Welcome to our little blog of horrors, Sugar & Scream! If you're looking for a monstrously good time, rest assured, you've come to the right place. We're two best friends with a sisterhood forged in the Unholy Trinity that is Horror, Fantasy and Science Fiction. When we're not busy devouring books, we're cooking up sinisterly scrumptious baked goods and other delights (and sometimes horrors) in our kitchens. Expect the unexpected, because we like to shake things up. Our blog is its own Frankenstein's Monster of our hobbies and passions all stitched together into one glorious abomination that encompasses everything from what we're reading and watching, to the hobbies we're working on, to our adventures in baking and plenty more!
